In December 2022 Bastion sustainment instructors ran Forge powerpack swap drills with a partner armor brigade, targeting trained-crew exchanges under an hour in cold weather.
The drills used instrumented packs and cutaway trainers—no live combat deployment—but mirrored lessons from high-tempo European exercises where deadlined tanks wait on engines, not guns.
Brigade NCOs pushed Bastion to simplify diagnostic connectors and label harnesses for night work. Those changes entered the 2023 production standard.
The event also previewed today’s DT-900 driveline kits: transmissions and final drives treated as matched sets with the powerpack.
